The Surrounding and How to Get There

The Ndoto Kidogo Lodge is situated near the large village of Mloka, in the middle of the African Bush. Tanzania's largest river, the Rufuji River, passes by at a distance of 15 m from the lodge. During dry season amazing sand banks appear. However, during rainy season, the river demands respect, increasing its width and current..

The Selous Game Reserve is also nearby, at a distance of 3 km, and it happens, that the lodge gets visitors from the inhabitants of the Game Reserve. There is even an ancient elephant path passing through the area of the lodge, which is especially used by the fascinating pachyderms in the evening hours during dry season- with some good luck you might have an impressive adventure.

Tour Operators

Tour operators are taking you to us at the lodge with technically well equipped clean 4wheel cars and they can also take you into the Selous Game Reserve to watch animals. On your request, we will gladly arrange that for you.

 

Aircraft

Small aircraft can land at a distance of about three km from the lodge, at the Mtemere Gate of the Selous Game Reserve. There we shall wait for you.

 

Private or Rented Cars

There is no problem to travel to us in a private or rented car. But you have to consider that only 4wheel cars can tackle the roads in the bush. Anyway, it is not allowed to make a tour through the Selous Game Reserve without a 4wheel car.

 

Regional Bus

If you are keen for a special adventure, you can also take a public bus (about 10000 TSH) from Dar es Salaam to Mloka. Normally the trip takes 7 hours, but it can also be more then 12 hours, you never know in Africa. In any case, we shall wait for you in Mloka,
