Activities

Walk tour through the village Here you get an impression the African life, far away from the large towns. Although the modern life is slowly coming into the bush, traditions are still alive. You are visiting an original clay house, which is still in use, the village school, you stroll over the small market of Mloka and look into the dukas. There is really nothing, what you cannot find here.

Walk safari to the farmers on the other side of the river. For that, you cross the river by canoe and walk through the African bush. You will meet many farmers on your way, and with some luck, you will witness the harvest of rice and maize. In that case, you will not see any African without a head load.

The walk safari through the Selous Game Reserve is guided by game rangers. You are experiencing the Selous Game Reserve on foot, accompanied by one or two armed rangers, depending on the number of participants. In that way, you learn a lot about the animals and plants and you feel the slight prickle, being surrounded by the wilderness.

A tour by canoe on Rufiji River is a special event. In a traditional dugout - big enough for two or three guests and a coxswain - you are gliding safely and silently over the water. Depending on the water level, also small tributaries may be explored. Observation of hippos, crocodiles and other animals in their natural surrounding is much more convenient in silence - for both sides. The canoe tour is only possible outside the park!

A boat safari inside the Selous Game Reserve is only possible since July 2008. Sitting in a motor boat, you see the park from a very different perspective. This trip is arranged through us and can only take place if there are at least 6 participants.

Safaris by jeep are either done by tour operators or by the guest themselves. Ask us about that.

All activities mentioned can be booked by us, but they are not included in the price for staying overnight in the lodge. .
